# Staking & Utility
ZFI is deeply integrated into the Zyfai protocol. Staking ZFI unlocks additional utility for ZFI holders through multiple mechanisms:
* A **10% performance fee** is active, as [approved by the DAO](https://snapshot.box/#/s:zyfai.eth/proposal/0xcbaf3c1b860b6be4da4223a5c996530ce10dcde5105f6af96e65ac7a1f2df8f4).
* **50% of performance fees generated** by the [protocol](https://debank.com/profile/0x62be78705295ca9ffdac410b4a9b6101983a7c3b/history) are distributed to ZFI stakers in USDC as native yield.
* **Staking 200,000 ZFI unlocks a 2x rebalancing frequency boost**, allowing your Agent to rebalance twice as often as your actual [rebalancing tier](/docs/product/intelligence/rebalancing).
* **Any staker with over 200,000 ZFI can submit a proposal** to introduce additional ZFI utility, subject to a DAO vote.

### What is ZFI Native Yield?
The DAO collects a 10% performance fee on the yield you generate.
**50% of the accrued performance fees are later distributed to ZFI stakers, paid in USDC**, with the remaining 50% allocated to protocol development.
Monthly USDC distributions from protocol revenue give stakers flexibility:
* Buy and stake more ZFI
* Deposit USDC back into Zyfai
If you want the highest share of rewards, timing matters:
* The earlier in the month you stake, the larger your position at snapshot time.
* Snapshot happens at the *end of every calendar month*.
* If you staked in Month A, you receive yield throughout Month B.
* If you unstake before the end-of-month snapshot, you are excluded from the next month’s reward stream.
Optional automations, such as auto-converting USDC to ZFI or auto-depositing USDC into Zyfai, may be introduced in the future. The DAO may also adjust allocation percentages through future governance proposals as Zyfai matures.
### What is Rebalancing Frequency Boost?
**Staking 200,000 ZFI unlocks a 2x Rebalancing Frequency Boost**, allowing your Agent to rebalance twice as often as your actual [rebalancing tier](/docs/product/intelligence/rebalancing).
More frequent rebalances increase capital efficiency, as [our backtests proved](https://x.com/Zyfai_/status/1981791256608223706?s=20).
The threshold may be adjusted over time based on market conditions and the ZFI price.

### How to Stake?
You can stake ZFI on the [Staking page](https://www.zyf.ai/staking) in your Dashboard:
1. Go to [https://zyf.ai/staking](https://www.zyf.ai/staking) and click “Stake”
2. Enter the amount of ZFI you want to stake and click “Stake”
3. Sign transactions
You've successfully staked your ZFI. USDC yield begins accruing from the next distribution period, which typically starts on the last day of each month. Yield is distributed via a Merkl campaign.
